What is LOZARTAN 25mg /50 mg?
Lozartan belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin-II receptor antagonists. Lozartan potassium 25mg film-coated tablets contain 25mg of lozartan potassium.
ANGIOTESIN ?
Angiotensin II is a chemical in your body, which tightens your blood vessels making it harder for the blood to pass through them and causes your blood pressure to increase.
Lozartan blocks this effect, causing the blood vessels to relax and so lowers your blood pressure
What is LOZARTAN 25mg/50mg used for?
Used to :
- Treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Lozartan lowers your blood pressure.
- Protect the kidney in hypertensive type 2 diabetic patients with laboratory evidence of impaired renal function and proteinuria =0.5mg per day (a condition in which urine contains an abnormal amount of protein)
- Reduce the risk of stroke in hypertension
- Treat chronic heart failure
Can be used by?
- Adults
- Children above 6 years who can swallow and who weighs between 20 and 50kg
- Adolescents 6-18 years of age
- Over 75years of age
- Patients being treated with high dose diuretic (drug that makes one pass urine frequently)

When should I not use Lozartan :
You should not use Lozatan if you react to it (allergic to it)
To make sure Lozatan is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have any of the following:
- kidney disease
- liver disease

What happens if I miss a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose..

What Should I avoid while taking Lozartan 25mg/50mg?
Drinking alcohol can further lower your blood pressure and may increase certain side effects of Lozatan.
Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes while you are taking this medicine, unless you are told by your doctor.
Avoid getting up too fast from a sitting or lying position, or you may feel dizzy. Get up slowly, and steady yourself to prevent a fall.
LOZATAN 25mg/50mg Adverse Effects
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to lozatan:
Hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor right away if you have unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness especially if you also have fever, unusual tiredness, and dark colored urine.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- a feeling that you might pass out
- pain or burning when you urinate
- pale skin, feeling light-headed or short of breath, rapid heart rate, trouble concentrating
- wheezing, chest pain
Common lozatan side effects may include:
- cold or flu symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat, fever
- dry cough
- muscle cramps
- pain in your legs or back
- stomach pain, diarrhea
- headache, dizziness
- tired feeling or
- May experience difficulty in sleeping (insomnia).
Is LOZATAN safe to consume when pregnant ?
Do not take Lozatan when you are pregnant. If you become pregnant while taking Lozartan, tell your doctor immediately
Is LOZATAN safe to consume while breastfeeding ?
You must not take Lozartan if you are breast-feeding.
